IMPORTANT NOTES:
We do need letters to go to [email protected] before Feb 3, but you can meet your MLA to follow up at the same time!
Step 1 - MAKE A BUDGET SUBMISSION
- Submit an email (see here for easy instructions) to the PreBudget Consultation BEFORE Feb 3 and copy your MLA, and the others on the instructions.
Step 2 - REACH OUT TO YOUR MLA (VIRTUALLY OR IN PERSON)
- Here's how you find your MLA
- Ask for a meeting to discuss your budget submission (we have included an easy advocacy toolkit to help you with important points, or you can adapt the email we have created)
- Please let us know here if you get a response!
- If comfortable, and you have the time, take a photo with the MLA and post it using the messaging we have attached (or your own) with the hashtags provided.
Step 3 - PASS IT ON
- We are stronger together. Please share this campaign with your friends and colleagues so we can continue to add more voices to the cause.
- If you run an organization, encourage your allies (artists, audiences, membership, board) to contact their MLAs and pass on this site.
- Share the message on your social media. Tell your own story and invite others using the hashtags and frame provided.
If you can, TELL US HOW IT WENT
- Share your results in 2 minutes here. It helps us know if we are being heard, and which MLAs have not yet been contacted.
We also hope you will read the BBB report created by the CNSLC and the NSAC

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- This government was elected on a platform to fix health care, but they always have to keep other aspects of the province running.
- They have invested more than $7 million of new money in the film industry (which is fabulous) but that doesn't help the arts and culture organizations, so there is a will to invest other than in health care - we need to help the Premier embrace what the arts and culture can do for NS.
- Investment in Arts and Culture has significant and documented positive health impacts, it is a driving or economic development, social cohesion and a recruitment tool for new immigrants including health care workers.
- It is a promise to our future as a vibrant, modern society, and one that can keep our young creative thinkers at home.
